If you are looking for a good home fitness machine, the Concept 2 Model D is a great choice. Its time-tested and built to withstand institutional use, so it will provide years of use in a home setting with the minimal suggested maintenance. The Model D has all the elements that made Concept 2 the benchmark brand in rowing machines: true-to-life air resistance, a rugged frame that supports all users, and a self-calibrating, performance monitor. The standard PM3 monitor will provide and store information for up to 300 workouts. (You can even race against a pace boat based on your previous workout data.) Upgrade to the PM4 monitor to get wireless heart rate monitoring, a rechargeable battery pack and wired or wireless racing.

PM3 Monitor - The PM3 is the standard performance monitor of the Concept 2 Model D. It turns on automatically to provide immediate, detailed feedback including a force curve for each stroke. Progress for approximately 300 workouts can be stored on the included LogCard and later referenced by date, type, or an overall summary. You can even row against a pace boat based on previous workout data. The PM3 can be pre-programmed to display distance, time, and interval workouts; with the optional Heart Rate interface, it can also track your heart rate.
PM4 Monitor - You can upgrade your Model D by adding the PM4 monitor, which has built-in wireless compatibility with Suunto heart-rate technology (chest belt included), offers improved transmission, and eliminates interference from nearby rowers. It features a rechargeable battery pack, increased memory capacity, and the computing power to support both wireless and wired racing.
Resistance Type - Concept 2 machines work on air resistance to capture the rhythm and feel of rowing on the water by using a carefully balanced and calibrated flywheel. The resistance you feel is the wind resistance generated by the spinning flywheel. With no brake pads to wear out and no friction mechanism to generate heat, the flywheel motion is smooth, long-lasting, and maintenance-free.
Frame - The Concept 2 frame features an aluminum I-beam monorail with a stainless-steel seat track. The maximum user weight of 500 lbs makes it perfect for heavy use in health clubs and boathouses.
Storage - Concept 2 rowers fold almost in half and feature transport wheels to help with storage!
Handle - The handle of Concept 2 rowers are ergonomically designed, with thoughtfully molded rubber grips.
Note: beginning users may want to use gloves to prevent blisters.
Seat - Concept 2 rowers feature a contoured seat that rolls smoothly on stainless steel components.
Footboards - Concept 2's exclusive Flexfoot Footboard System allows the rower to reach full extension without having flexible ankles. The unique combination of two foot straps with the footboard allows the heel to lift slightly from the footboard while still remaining firmly anchored throughout the stroke.
