I have had this rowing machine for about a month and use it 3-4 days a week. I can already see better definition in my arms and legs and have also lost a few pounds. I researched a rowing machine for months. Finally when I found this one for significantly lower than the competitors, I was concerned that it might not work out but I was very wrong. This is a very well built and quiet machine. It gives a great work out and with the on board digital read out, you know exactly what you are doing. The seat and the handle bar are very comfortable. The adjustable tension works well. The setup was a piece of cake. It took me 10 minutes to put it together.
The delivery went very well. It was shipped and delivered exactly as promised. The box arrived in perfect condition with everything in it. It was a very easy setup and an awesome purchase. Thank you!

I love my rowing machine, however, the seat doesn't slide very easily. It feels like it gets stuck sometimes. I'm hoping that as I use it more it will wear down a little, and the plastic won't be as "sticky". Overall, I can't complain. I typically hate working out, but this is actually kind of fun. Plus I work arms, legs, and back all at once so I don't have to spend a lot of time doing it.

I have been through many types of exercise machines - ellipticals, treadmills etc. They all got boring after a while and ended up as clothes hangers. This is a fantastic piece of equpment though. Quiet and easy enough to use while watching TV, the multiple settings ensure infinite variety so if I feel like a hard work out I can or take it easy on any particular day I can also do that. It has done wonders for my Back in particular - I had been getting some twinges over the years but now they are gone. My body is becoming unbelievably toned - not only am I losing weight but it really shows that I am.
This machine is everything it promised to be - wish I had bought one years ago.

This machine is in use by my family or myself 1 or 2 times a day, everyday. It has delivered without a problem for over a month now and we have no complaints. Only minor nuisance is the realatively small numbers with no backlighting on the readout panel for time, calories, speed and distance. (Hard to read during workout)

I use this about 4 times per week and row about 3K per day. At first the seat/slide was not smooth, but this seemed to wear in after about 3 weeks and now it works fine. I used to run, but needed to find something else that would be low-impact. You can get a good workout on this in about 20 minutes per day.

I use my rower everday! It was easy to assemble, it is quiet enough that I can row in the morning and not wake my kids up. It is also great because it works almost every part of my body.

I ordered the rower because I am a single mom who works full time and goes to grad school-- and therefore I have no time or money for a gym membership. I need a quick easy overall body workout I can do at odd hours at home or while my son is doing homework, etc. I live in a small condo and needed a piece of equipment with a small footprint when it is put away. For the price, this rower is an excellent investment in your health. It fits my needs and I'm glad I bought it. Beats trucking over to the gym on a cold night after work, and it works both the upper AND lower body @ the same time. The specs say it can be used by a person weighing up to 250 lbs., but I wouldn't recommend it for people that heavy.
The ordering process was great. The sales person answered all my questions. Delivery was prompt, and the rower arrived in good condition. I would recommend this supplier to someone else.

I just received my machine a couple of days ago. It was very easy to assemble with tools that came with the package. I have tried it a few times and find that the resistance can be adjusted to what is actually more than that of the machines at the gym. The low resistance is very easy. I particularly like that there is a slight incline that puts a bit more pressure on your legs than a gym machine, which has a rail that is perpendicular to the floor. When folded it can easily roll and fit into an average closet; it takes up about 24" X 28" of floor space (I just measured it.) It rolls pretty easily but the wheels weren't made for moving frequently on hard floors. I read other reviews that say the machine rocks toward you on a pull stroke, but I imagine it is because they didn't completely turn the bolt that secures the rail all the way down. Once it is all the way down, it doesn't rock at all. So far a great machine all around. If I find in the future that the durability is an issue, I will change this review.

This model is exactly what I expected for the price. I used rowing machines in college to supplement cycling & weight training and missed them. Computer is a bit cheesey, but works fine. I am still looking for one with resistance excercises/games, like one I used to use. Very quiet operation, I like to watch a movie while using or listen to music.

I've had the Phoenex MR900 for about one month,and I can tell you that it affords an excellent,low impact,total body exercercise.[...],and product was easy to assemble. The base is sturdy,the motion is smooth and quiet.Concerns: 1.Computer does not record properly. 2.It is diffulcult to line up the holes to place the locking knob properly. 3. I have to keep adjusting the seat bolts to ensure a smooth motion. 4. How durable is the cable strap? I was surprised to see that it is a cloth-like material instead of a cable.

I use the rower to warm up on strength days and for metcons on GPP days. Having also used a Concept 2, I must say that this is a good alternative if you are on a budget. Tension is good and setup was easy. Easy to move to a different room with the attached wheels. Storage is also good too, but you have to practice using the screw-key to lock the folding part in place.
The only thing I dont like about it is the limited monitor. It does not measure in meters, only Km. Also, the labels are difficult to read when you want to keep track of how many calories you rowed versus Km rowed. Overall a good product for the price

I assembled it myself with only a little difficulty. It took some time to get the seat right - if it is too tight, it binds up during use. The computer display is difficult to read. Overall, it works as well as the expensive one I use at the gym. I am happy with the purchase.

I love this machine. I get a great workout and it really kicks my butt right now. Easy to set up and for the money you can't beat it. My only issue is the seat. You have to adjust the screws on the rollers so it will roll smoothly. Other than that, I love it.

I have never used a rowing machine, but thought I would give it a try after selling my treadmill that was collecting dust. I have only had for a couple of weeks, but enjoy the machine. It was easy to assemble, and is quiet to use. Getting a good arm and leg workout. Have only used level 1 so far, but that is plenty for a beginner who hasn't exercised in years.
The computer is very basic, but I bought this for basic exercise not fancy programs.
Delivery was prompt and arrived on time. Item is heavy and like other comments arrived with some comestic damage. The metal backet that the front leg attaches to, was bent and caused the plastic cover to not line up right. I hammered the metal bracket back into shape and was able to re-align the plastic cover. Nothing major, unless you flip it upside down and see where the paint came off when I staigthened it out.

This rower is easy to set up and easy to use. It stores away easily as well. It's sturdy, and although it's not "silent", it is fairly quiet. I recommend a floor mat for non-carpet surfaces to help keep the machine stable. Overall, i'm very happy after the first few uses.
Delivery was prompt, and I was updated by e-mail every step of the way. The rower arrived on time and in good condition.

The rower is great, assembly is simple and the workout is awesome. It may not be as bulky as the ones at the gym but it's the quality that counts and this one is all that. It was great not having to pay out the wazoo for it also. I've purchased other pieces of equipment and they worked good but they would tend to rock this one is stable and its nice not having to plug it in.

I had a good experience with the Rowing Superstore. [...] The machine itself is very sturdy and I would recommend it to other people. The computer on the machine is pretty cheap. One day it started beeping and did not stop so I removed it. I could order a replacement, but I'm not sure its worth the effort. I bought the machine with the purpose of using it in an apartment and I'm glad to report that it is quiet enough to do so. However, if you were planning on storing it in a sliding closet you might want to come up with an alternative spot because it is a bit wide at the base and sits on the track of the closet door. The top of the machine also touches the coat rack. Assembling is not too difficult, but you might want to ask a friend for help. Attaching the base to the machine can be tricky due to the height and weight of the machine. It was a bit difficult to balance the machine and attach the base bar at the same time. The rower comes in a surprisingly large box as well. A neighbor thought that I bought a pool table. A box cutter to break it down could be needed.

This is a great machine for the money. I had a friend tell me I needed to be in great shape after I ordered it.....true this thing will work you good if you are not frequently exercising. I like the fact that it works EVERYTHING!!!! All in one machine. I have had to work up to a level of more than little by little. Definitely think it is a great buy. My sister runs 3-5 miles daily and it even kicked her butt the first time she got on it!!!

Very smooth and quiet operation, gives a great workout with full range. It is portable somewhat but I really wouldn't recommend it. There is one point in the directions where it's not entirely clear. It's not a big deal but a bit of an aggravation. I believe that the maximum resistance may not quite be enough for some men. You may have to spend a little more time on it to compensate.

For the price this is a great piece of equipment. It was easy to put together, came with the tools needed to assemble, although the tools are not listed as included and I didn't figure out what they were for until after I already assembled the machine.
It is quiet, nice looking, easy to operate, automatically turns on when you start using it, and when it turns on it is automatically reset, unlike most other machines that just continue on recording data from where you last left off.
It does fold up, although I don't use that feature. At first I felt the intensity levels didn't feel very different, but after a few minutes I really could tell the difference.
This is a great piece to use while watching TV, provided you have room for it where you have a TV.
I definitely recommend this machine!

After buying a few other pieces of equipment that quickly gathered dust, I decided to give a rowing machine a try. I compared as many under $500 models as I could find. I settled on this one and am happy I went with it.
Expect a very large and heavy box. The machine was easy to put together until the very last piece for me -- the seat. I finally gave up on trying to get the bracket to fit, it seemed to be bent or misdrilled. I called the manufacturer and they sent a new piece -- it fixed the problem.
After I finally got it going, it was better than I expected. I live in an apartment and noise and vibration are a major concern with neighbors beneath me. I can use this just about any hour and I don't feel it's making any real noise. With the back end of it lifted off the floor, perched on that small stand, there seems to be little transfer of noise and vibration. I'm very happy about this. The housing for the rowing mechanism makes some noise as you row, but I didn't expect silence, I think that's unrealistic.
The rowing motion is smooth. I have it on the first setting and as a total beginner I can only do 15 minutes at a time, I have to stop. It gets my heart rate going and I feel a nice work out in my arms and legs. The seat feels sturdy if not a little tight to me. When assembling it don't get concerned if the seat feels really tight to your hands. As soon as you sit on it the weight frees it up and it rolls easily.

Even though I haven't owned it for long, this rowing machine is quite wonderful. Not only is it whisper quiet, but it stores in the corner of my apartment's living room very nicely. My fiance` and I unfold it and row while we watch TV which makes time pass by very quickly.
Once I began rowing on this machine I noticed how quickly I felt my body getting a workout. Immediately I felt it in my shoulders, back, legs & thighs and arms. With more practice I'm sure that I will feel it in my abs as well (you have to perform the workout correctly in order to hit all muscles).
So far, this machine is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a low impact workout that can be done anywhere in the house. Regardless of the wheels this machine comes with, I was able to lift the machine and move it around even without the wheels (I'm a 5'6 not so strong 26 year old female).
I found this to be the perfect workout for me since I'm somewhat of a TV addict, so I can work out while watching my nightly shows, and I have lower back disc issues for a while now, and this workout is very low impact and doesn't hurt my back at all.
We get off this machine feeling refreshed and the rowing is actually a lot of fun for us.
Highly recommended....get it!!

This product was very easy to put together. There were probably four bolts to put in and it was ready to go. It isn't completely silent since there is a little mechanical noise that comes with pulling the handle back, but it isn't too loud. The overall workout I got was great. My legs, back, stomach, and arms felt worked when I was done. It's also a good way to get your heart rate up. My only real complaint is with the location of the foot pedals. They could be situated a little higher. The current setup creates a little bit of an awkward motion at first but you get used to it shortly. The tension settings on this machine give a nice range of difficulty and the display screen is easy to read. This isn't the best rower I've ever used, but priced at a few hundred less than the more expensive models it's definitely worth the price.
My only complaint about delivery is that there was a slight crack in the front plastic housing. It doesn't affect the performance of the machine at all but it's still damaged.

I was a daily runner until a car accident and then surgery basically made it impossible. Rehab was going slow and my weight was steadily increasing and my cardio was totally gone. I stumbled across the rowing machine in the gym and was really blown away by how good the workout was and it didnt hurt my knee.
The performance of this machine was very comparable to those I had used in the gym but actually much quieter. I'm sure serious rowers can tell a difference but to me it was just about the same.
Setup was easy and it stores in a very little space. I'm very happy with this and it was definitely a good buy for the money.

It was a good value and I got alot of use out of it. But after about a year of steady use, the flywheel that drives the rowing mechanism broke. Aside from that misfortune, the seat is very comfortable even for a 210 lbs man, its a little bit noisy, has basic electronic counters (good enough), is a little oversized but stores easily in a corner.

Great value; have owned this rower for a few years. The plastic casing could be stronger -- after a move the casing cracked, but it's still as use-able as ever (just with an unsightly piece of broken plastic, and granted that was after a few years of use). The resistance is good and I have even mixed-up forms to isolate different muscle groups. It's a great product that I'd highly recommend.

I only have 2 complaints with this rower, and neither is problem enough to make me not want to use it.
1. The machine does not stay put on the floor when you pull back on the rowing cord. The front of the machine lifts up a few inches and then slams back down when you move forward back to the cords original position. I found that putting a phone book or a block of wood under the front solved that problem nicely, but you'd have to decide if that's acceptable for you quality wise.
2. I wish it could be set to a higher tension. The highest setting doesn't seem to be difficult enough once you work up your strength. It is sufficient though to work out the arms and upper body. All in all, I have been happy with it and use it often.

I bought this b/c it was one of the least expensive quiet models with digital monitoring. Well, the digital monitoring set up is touchy. Fixing it is doable, but a pain and it'll happen again. I just use a stopwatch, b/c otherwise it's a good workout.

We use the rower several times a week. It's nice to have something that fits in our small apartment and is effective without going to the gym. When we first got it though we found that the foot rests were too low and put our legs and knees in an awkward position. It really hurt and strained the ligaments in our knees. I ended up having to have a local metalsmith fashion some 2x4 tubing and screw it to the frame of the rower to lift up the foot rests. Unfortunately it squeaks and creaks now but is much more comfortable to use although the seat could use a little work too. Overall, although it was kind of an ordeal to start with, once we got it fixed to our liking it was and is a really good deal for the price.
* Neither my wife or I are very tall. A taller person may find it more comfortable out of the box.

The machine does the job of rowing for you, but with some drawbacks. It is time consuming to set it up and put it away. If you have room, I suggest just leave it set up. The speed and distance are measured in kilometers, not miles. The calorie counter is not even close to actual calories burned. You can barely see the read out unless you are in a well lit area. If you want a way to give your upper body as well as your legs a workout, this rowing machine will tone your back and tricep muscles.
